Virus and Spyware Removal

These days, it is very hard to avoid Viruses and Spyware. Without a very up-to-date Anti-Virus, or appropriate Spyware protection, your compute can become a victim very quickly.

Below are some useful definitions of these;

Virus

A Virus is any file or program that replicates itself
This could be a piece of malicious software designed to damage / corrupt data.
This may also spread within E-Mail attachments or media such as Floppy disks / CD-ROM's etc.

Spyware

Any piece of software which collects information about the user of the computer. This includes "Key loggers" which save everything you type onto the Keyboard (i.e. passwords, bank details etc.).
Once this information has been collected, it is usually sent back to the person responsible for the piece of software.

Adware / Malware

As the first part of "Adware" suggests, this is usually in the form of unwanted adverts. For example - when browsing the Internet, you may be a victim to pop ups or adverts.
Normally this comes with software which is free. Sometimes, during installation, there is an indication that "This software is AD-Supported" - but not always!
